Sad Dads Club, Inc. — Terms & Conditions and Participation Agreement
Effective Date: July 1, 2026
Sad Dads Club, Inc., helps fellow bereaved fathers navigate life after loss by nurturing a supportive community and providing access to mental health services. Because of the sensitivity and courage it takes to reach out for support, this community needs to feel safe and welcoming for all. We therefore require all members to treat one another with kindness, respect, and honesty, and to help us protect the trust and well-being of the community as a whole. These terms are here to help us preserve the supportive space we’ve built together.
These Terms & Conditions (“Agreement”) govern participation in any program, service, event, support group, website, online forum, communication platform, social media page, or activity operated by Sad Dads Club, Inc. (“SDC,” “we,” “our,”, “us”, or “Company”), whether conducted online, virtually, in person, or otherwise.
By accessing, utilizing, attending, participating in, communicating with, or engaging in any SDC activity or platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be legally bound by this Agreement.
1. Community Standards and Code of Conduct
Participant(s) agree to use the Services in a lawful, respectful, and responsible manner. Participant is solely responsible for all content submitted, posted, transmitted, or shared through the Services and for all interactions with other Participants.
SDC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to remove or restrict any participant for conduct including, but not limited to, the following:
- Use of Services for any unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, abusive, harassing, defamatory, threatening, discriminatory, or harmful purpose;
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Submit false, deceptive, sexually explicit, obscene, hateful, violent, or otherwise objectionable content;
- Collect, harvest, scrape, purchase, or otherwise obtain personal information or content from other participants or SDC without authorization;
- Use the Services to solicit money from other participants without prior authorization from SDC;
- Transmit malware, viruses, spyware, bots, automated scripts, or other malicious code;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services, accounts, systems, or data;
- Use the Services for commercial advertisements without prior approval from SDC;
- Post or transmit content that infringes intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights;
- Encourage or facilitate illegal activity, self-harm, violence, or dangerous conduct; or
- Circumvent any safety feature, blocking function, moderator decision, or account suspension.
- Participants agree not to record, photograph, screenshot, reproduce, publish, disclose, or distribute personal information, stories, images, recordings, or communications shared by other participants with their express consent.
SDC reserves the right, but not the obligation, to monitor content and participant activity and to remove content, restrict access, suspend accounts, terminate accounts, or cooperate with law enforcement in accordance with applicable law.
2. Right to Refuse, Restrict, Suspend, or Remove Participation
Consistent with applicable law, SDC reserves the absolute and sole discretion to refuse, restrict, suspend, terminate, remove, block, ban, or otherwise prohibit any individual from participating in or accessing any SDC platform, service, communication channel, support group, event, or activity at any time, with or without notice, and for any reason or no stated reason whatsoever.
Without limiting the foregoing, SDC reserves the right to immediately remove, suspend, or permanently prohibit participation from any of the services by any participant who has been convicted of, pled guilty to, pled nolo contendere to, or is alleged to have engaged in conduct that SDC reasonably determines may pose a safety risk to participants or the community.
SDC shall retain sole and absolute discretion in determining whether an individual’s conduct, criminal history, alleged conduct, or known background presents a safety concern, reputational concern, or risk to the community, and all such determinations made by SDC shall be final.
3. No Background Checks or Member Vetting
SDC does not represent, warrant, certify, endorse, screen, investigate, monitor, or guarantee the character, background, criminal history, credibility, qualifications, conduct, or safety of any participant, member, volunteer, attendee, employee, contractor, or third party associated with the community.
SDC does not conduct criminal background checks or independent investigations on participants prior to participation in SDC events, programs, or activities.
SDC undertakes no duty to monitor participant conduct, investigate participant backgrounds, assess participant suitability, prevent harm, warn participants of risks, or protect participants from the acts or omissions of others.
You acknowledge and agree that all participation and interaction with other members, participants, volunteers, or third parties occurs entirely at your own risk.
4. Assumption of Risk
By using the Services, Participant acknowledges and agrees that interactions with other Participants, whether online, by telephone, through messaging, by video, or in person, involve inherent risks that cannot be eliminated regardless of the care taken by SDC. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Emotional distress;
- Exposure to sensitive or triggering subject matter;
- Offensive or inappropriate conduct;
- Harassing behavior;
- Misconduct by third parties;
- Verbal disputes;
- Physical altercations;
- Mental or emotional injury; and
- Other unforeseeable risks associated with interacting with members of the public.
You voluntarily and knowingly assume all risks associated with participation in SDC and interactions with any participant, member, volunteer, attendee, or third party connected to SDC.
Participants are encouraged to report concerning behavior, threats, harassment, stalking, or safety concerns to SDC. SDC reserves the right, but assumes no obligation, to investigate and respond to such reports.
5. Release and Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you expressly release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Sad Dads Club, Inc., including its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, moderators, organizers, affiliates, contractors, representatives, successors, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”), from and against any and all claims, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, actions, causes of action, costs, expenses, or injuries of any kind, whether known or unknown, arising out of or related to:
- The acts, omissions, statements, or conduct of any participant, member, volunteer, or third party;
- Any online or in-person interaction associated with SDC;
- Participation in any SDC event, meeting, support group, or activity;
- Any emotional, psychological, verbal, or physical harm allegedly caused by another participant or third party; or
- Reliance upon any statements, opinions, guidance, or representations made within the SDC community.
You further agree that SDC and the Released Parties shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from participation in or use of SDC. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the maximum aggregate liability of SDC shall not exceed the amount, if any, paid by Participant to SDC during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to a claim.
6. Online Platforms and Moderation
SDC may monitor, moderate, remove, archive, restrict, or report content, posts, messages, comments, communications, or Participants on any SDC-operated platform at its sole discretion.
7. No Professional Advice or Crisis Services
SDC is a peer-support and community organization only and does not directly provide medical, psychiatric, psychological, therapeutic, legal, or other professional services.
Participation in SDC is not a substitute for professional medical care, mental health treatment, counseling, therapy, crisis intervention, diagnosis, or treatment.
No participant, volunteer, moderator, or facilitator should be considered a licensed professional solely by virtue of participation in SDC.

8. Arbitration Agreement
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to this Agreement, participation in SDC, or use of any SDC service or platform shall be resolved exclusively through binding arbitration administered in the State of Maine. The parties are waiving their right to a jury trial or to resolve disputes in a court of law.
9. Confidentiality Disclaimer
SDC cannot guarantee the confidentiality of communications, discussions, messages, support groups, meetings, or interactions among participants. Participants are encouraged to respect the privacy of others, but SDC does not control or monitor all communications and cannot ensure that information shared with the community will remain confidential.
10. Intellectual Property/Content Licensing
Participant retains ownership of content submitted to SDC but grants SDC a nonexclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute such content for the purposes of offering the Services.
11. Modification
SDC reserves the right to modify these Terms and this Agreement at any time. Updated Terms become effective upon posting unless otherwise stated.
12. Electronic Communications/Electronic Acceptance
By participating in any SDC event or Service, Participant acknowledges they have read and accepted these Terms and shall constitute the same legal effect as a handwritten signature.
13. Governing Law and Venue
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Maine, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
14. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unlawful, unenforceable, or invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
15. Acceptance of Terms
By participating in, attending, accessing, or utilizing any SDC activity, service, platform, communication channel, support group, or event, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and voluntarily agreed to these Terms & Conditions in their entirety.
16. Entire Agreement
This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between you and SDC regarding participation in SDC activities, services, events, and platforms.
